There is an IT fair at Cimahi (20th - 22nd June 2006). It is followed by a discussion on IT clusters in Indonesia. BHTV foundation will be there. As a side note, our team has just came back from visiting Taiwan. Further collaboration is in the queue.
Our community section has been updated with a list of software house in Bandung Raya.

We are documenting IT capabilities in the Bandung Region. What is out capability? We are going to update our "list of companies" in BHTV. We hope that you can join our effort by providing information about your companies. These information will be used to develop our BHTV efforts. Stay tuned.

23 July 2005. PT INTI invited software houses in Bandung to have a discussion with Departemen Kominfo, and a visit to RICE (Regional IT Center of Excellence) which is hosted at PT INTI. The event was successful. The place was packed with people from Bandung IT community. Good show!

April 2005. Indonesian programmers won Google's India Code Jam.
This is not an April fool joke! Google is always looking for talents. So, on March 2005, in Bangalore India, Google had a competion. You would think that the winners are from India, right? No. The winners, no.1 and no.2, are Indonesians. Ardian Poernomo (no.1) is currently studying at Nanyang Technological University (Singapore). The second winner, Pascal Alfadian, is a student at Universitas Katolik Parahyangan in Bandung (what else). This is just to show the future of BHTV is great. Here's the complete Business Week news.

January 2005. A competency standard for Computer Operator and Programmer was announce on the 19th of January 2005. This standard is endorsed by various computer-related industry association. We hope that this standard can increase the quality (and quantity) of Indonesian operators and programmers. Unfortunately we don't have the softcopy of the standard. When we do get the standard, we will put it in this web site.

30 November 2004. Our BHTV expo is on. Local software is the theme. See you there. (Here's a Detik.com news.)

1 November 2004. It's official. We are going to have an Expo: BHTV Expo 2004. Please visit BHTV Expo 2004 web site for a more detail information. If you want to participate, please contact the organizer as soon as possible since we have a limitted booth. The booth is FREE, but we request that you provide your company profile (which will be included in future version of our BHTV Blue Book).

August 2004. Our domain is up again. Thanks to Rully at Melsa for renewing the domain. Our mailing list is active again. Please send your stories to the list. We should have our physical meeting again. It has been a year we have not met face to face. Any suggestion on the date? We'll organize the place (and food?).

USA Today reports that there is a decline in the number of Computer Science enrolements. People are getting profesional or vendor certification, instead. There's also a discussion at Slashdot regarding this. The general consensus is that you should stay at college, get your degree.

1 April 2004. A study by the Milken Institute found that Massachusetts is still the number one place in the USA for technology-related activities. It is said that knowledge-based economy could take advantage from this area. California is moving to second place from 2002-survey. How does Bandung stand in Indonesia? It would be nice if there is a similar study done in Indonesia. Any takers?

March 2004. Where should ICT research in Indonesia be directed to? What's the most difficult problem your company currently facing? Should we even try to do research? Or just leave it to developed countries? If you have an opinion, or idea, or suggestion, or pointer, send it to our BHTV mailing list.

Newsweek headline's: "BRAIN GAIN: countries losing their best and brightest to the West is a good thing. Really." Hmm... what do you think? How many Indonesians are abroad? In what positions? We welcome your opinion. Send them to our mailing list.
